Bio

Berto Martinez is a professional photographer from Chicago, IL. In 2016, he earned his BFA with a focus in Photography from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago(SAIC). Since then Martinez has been professionally working in product photography and his own art practice. From 2013-2019, he worked an evolving role at Side Street Studio Arts as an Artist-Intern then promoted to Director of Exhibitions. Martinez led the artist-intern programs and monthly art exhibitions for the community of Elgin, the town he grew up in. During his time at SAIC, he worked as an Installation Gallery Assistant at SITE, formerly known as Student Union Galleries. Martinez is a recipient of the Individual Artist Grant (2014 and 2016) from Elgin Cultural Arts Commission and the Endsley Memorial Fellowship Grant (2015) from SAIC.
